"Deep in the Pine Forest"

This painting is rather dark and gloomy but we found this scene in Yellowstone while on a two-hour Ranger Walk that took us to Indian Pond and Storm Point. We walked deep into the woods with the ranger and came upon this spot where it looked like there were about 1,000 pine trees so deep and so close together. Steve crouched down very close to the ground to get this perspective and I always thought this was such a neat photo. Only a little patch of grass was visible in the foreground and little seedlings of tiny pine trees would poke up here and there.
Maybe tomorrow's painting will not be so gloomy.
