Dining Room Sunlight

"Dining Room Sunlight"
10"x8"

I feel much better about this interior scene.  I loved the wonderful sunshine pouring through the bay windows and the shadows that resulted.  The beautiful home of my son and daughter-in-law have provided the photo source for this scene and the one I posted last week.  I am sure they were wondering why I was walking around their house snapping photos here and there!

I subscribe to a blog written by a wonderful plein air artist from The Netherlands by the name of Roos Schuring.  A few days ago her blog featured these words:  "Fail fast, fail some more.  Admit the failure and do better.  Failing can be fun.  Failing is a given."  These words resonated with me as I am struggling with these interior scapes but I keep plugging away and hopefully some day I will win!

The struggle continues...

  1. Well, I've had some epic fails here in Mexico, Kathy. So don't feel bad. I feel like my muse has deserted me. I hope to climb back on the painting horse this week. I spent the morning (before Spanish class) scrubbing the laundry room sink. I made a mess with my acrylics. I just went around the corner and for $1+ bought a plastic tarp so I don't ever have to do that again. It can only go up from here. This painting of yours is beautiful - you have mastered the art of simplicity. It works so well. I am still in the grip of complexity and I need to get over it. Thanks for posting.

    1. Meg, thank you so much for taking the time to read the blog and to comment. Everyone has failures but the trick is to keep knocking the failures out the way! This is how we grow and stretch! I like your mention of simplicity. Thank you.
