Autumn Vibrations

"Autumn Vibrations"
Day 24 of 30/30
6"x8" oil on canvas panel
$75.00

Here is another from our September trip to Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Canada a few years ago.  The tree foliage turns in Canada much earlier than it does here in the sunny South.  Driving down the back roads provided me with lots of images such as the one I used to paint this scene.  Also, it gave me a much needed change of pace from all that green I have been painting!

Autumn in the Sault

"Autumn in the Sault"
Day 23 of 30/30
6"x8" oil on canvas panel
$75.00

Several years ago Steve and I flew up to visit my brother and sister-in-law who spend part of the year in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario, Canada.  Their little cottage is just yards from the shores of Lake Superior with absolutely gorgeous views of this mighty body of water.   In fact, today is my brother's birthday so I decided to paint this in his honor.  Happy Birthday Charlie!

Fall Colors on the Marsh - Day 20

"Fall Colors on the Marsh"
#20 of 30
6"x8" oil on canvas pad
$75.00

Back in October of 2011, Steve and I drove to Beaufort, SC to stay for a long weekend at a cute cottage owned by a woman who had brought one of my paintings a couple years earlier.  She wanted an autumn marsh scene and offered her cottage for us to stay in.  So we drove down and took about a hundred photos and enjoyed our stay in this picturesque little town.

Beaufort is a very quaint southern coastal town and is known as the locale for the early 1980's movie "The Big Chill" which was filmed there.  When I paint, I always listen to Pandora Radio on my computer and Marvin Gaye sang to me as I was painting this!!

Beaufort Marsh

Beaufort Marsh
18"x24" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap
Donated

About 1 1/2 years ago, Steve and I spent a long weekend at the vacation home of a patron of mine who used to live in Charlotte but now lives in Beaufort SC.  She wanted a fall scene with the fabulous autumn colors hitting the marshes so we snapped about a hundred photos of various spots around Beaufort.  She loved her autumn marsh scene that I did for her and those photos have given me lots of subject matter for future paintings.

"Beaufort Marsh" is from one of those many photos.  Recently I was asked by another patron here in Charlotte to donate a painting to a cause she is co-chairing and I have donated this painting to the 60th annual Room to Bloom Celebration which is an annual fundraiser for the Mint Museum of Charlotte.  The silent auction will be held April 17 at Charlotte Country Club.
