Grand Central Station

"Grand Central Station"
Day 30
6"x8" oil on canvas panel

I have always wanted to go inside the iconic Grand Central Station and on this trip we did.  It truly is an amazing building.  Unfortunately we only had time to see the vast interior main concourse and it  is magnificent.  Made primarily from granite, it was completed in 1903 and the basement area with all the train tracks covers 49 acres.  The terminal is one of the worlds most visited tourist attractions with almost 22 million visitors a year.

This is the final day of this challenge I have given myself.  I have enjoyed the topic because I could relive memories of that fabulous girls weekend in New York City back in December with my daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.   Perspective is what I chose to concentrate on because it is something I am not accustomed to doing.  But I must say I am so glad it is over because for the most part it  has been very embarrassing for me to put out works that I am not proud of.  But I continued to participate because I wanted to learn and practice and I chose to do it in this public way.    I feel that I did learn many things and perhaps got a little bit better as the month went on but I can assure you that landscapes will be what I will continue to concentrate on.

Later in the week, I will post a coastal marsh that I have been working on so I hope you come back!

  1. I loved seeing your trip and love that you shared it with us. You work is wonderful...30 paintings in 30 days is a monumental task and you should be proud that you persevered! congratulations! No apologies needed! Be proud!
